![]() While proxy scattering is a powerful tool for creating forests and soup can sculptures, it can also be implemented for visualization of architectural components. Although not quite as fast as 3ds Max, the proxies worked pretty well when scattering a forest with millions of polygons: Our second test focused on testing the strength of the tool, so we applied it to a scene with unusually high polygon counts. We put together a Canstruction generator (for a possible future installation) and tested the proxy scatter at varying densities: The first test with the tool was a scatter of the classic Campbell’s soup can. The scattering process (executed with Rhinoscript) is slower than Forest Pack but by keeping the tool within the grasshopper interface, we are able to control proxy parameters while applying them to complex surfaces. Like Forest Pack, our Python script offers proxy translation, scaling (1D/2D/3D), rotation, and jitter. The component we’ve put together is similar to Forest Pack, a powerful 3ds Max plugin by iToo software. ![]() This results in a significantly improved user experience as well as increased speed and complexity of renderings. It’s linked to this mesh geometry, which is imported only at render time. In short, a proxy is a crude representation of a complex mesh geometry within modeling space. IMPORTANT: To convert materials between different renderers, it is imperative that you have these renderers on your system. We’ve enjoyed taking a look at the new version of VRay for Rhino and are especially excited about the addition of VRay proxies. Otherwise, procedural maps are baked into textures or removed if the resulting materials can be used without them. As for special procedural maps, they are converted only if there is an analogue. Also, all the textures that are used for the above parameters are saved. V-RayMtl Converter converts the source materials into other specified material with the maximum possible preservation of the basic properties of the material, such as diffuse, specular, opacity (including filter), glossiness, roughness, bump, displacement, selfillumination (emission), translucency, reflection, refraction. But despite these differences, we tried to achieve the maximum possible accuracy of the conversion, which the our plugin provides an average of 90-98% In this regard, the physical parameters of materials are also significantly different. None of the existing converters can provide 100% accuracy of the conversion due to the fact that the principle of the different renderer engines differs, and sometimes differs significantly. V-RayMtl Converter are officially tested by the Autodesk® team and also is available in the Autodesk App Store More detailed information about the new features and capabilities of the converter can be found here: View full list of currently supported materials, maps and scene components for converting. and more advanced conversion and scene fix tools.
